We are seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistants to join the EPSRC Project ‘Seebibyte: Visual Search for the Era of Big Data’. You will have the opportunity to work as part of the Visual Geometry Group at the Department of Engineering Science in central Oxford. The post is for 12 months, the first 11 months will be funded by EPSRC and the last month will be funded by AC Nielsen Company Ltd.

The objective of the project is to carry out fundamental research in order to develop the next generation of computer vision algorithms that are able to analyse, describe and search image and video content with human-like capabilities. In particular, we are looking to integrate into our computer vision models the ability to reason about a complex space of abstract concepts, such as the ones that can be expressed in natural language. There will be a particular focus on Deep Learning methods.

You should possess a doctorate, or near completion of doctorate, in computer vision or machine learning. A background and expertise in recognition in images and videos and machine learning together with good written and oral communication skills are essential.
