We are seeking a full-time Workshop Manager who will be responsible for managing the central workshops within the Department of Engineering Science (central Oxford). The post is full-time and permanent.
A highly skilled design technician in mechanical engineering you will be responsible for ensuring that the workshop facilities are maintained to the highest standards. You will support teaching, research and outreach and be responsible for ensuring that the facilities are properly equipped and supported. As a skilled and enthusiastic design engineer you will provide expert advice within your particular field and actively support the review, testing and evaluation of new equipment to support teaching and research. You will lead by example in maintaining and updating your technical skills and manage the technical staff in the workshops and laboratories to ensure a customer focused and efficient service is provided.
Educated to an appropriate level (e.g. HNC/D) in a relevant subject, you will have highly developed technical engineering design/manufacturing skills in mechanical engineering. You will also have significant experience of delivering technical support in an engineering or similar context as well as delivery of good customer service. A pro-active approach with the ability to provide leadership and experience of management are also essential.
