Part-time Laboratory Manager

We are seeking a part-time (0.5 FTE) laboratory Manager to join the Chemical and Process research group at the Department of Engineering Science (Begbroke Science Park). The post is permanent.

You will play a pivotal role in ensuring that the laboratories are effectively managed. Working closely with the lead academic for each laboratory, you will ensure the laboratories provide a clean and safe working environment. You will oversee training of new researchers, ensuring that all staff have received appropriate training on chemical and gas safety and have knowledge of the health and safety policies.

You should have previous experience of working in an experimental laboratory and the ability to manage in an organised manner the day-to-day tasks involved in maintaining the smooth running of a research lab. This would include tasks such as autoclaving waste, preparation of bacterial media, routine cell culture maintenance, and ensuring that the stock room supplies are maintained. You should have excellent interpersonal skills and specific knowledge of COSHH regulations and experience of working with chemicals within a lab environment.
