Jun studied her PhD in the Department of Computing Sciences at Liverpool John Moores University, UK. She received the MSc degree and BSc degree in Computer Science and Technology at Changzhou University, China, in 2010 and 2013, respectively. Following her studies, she was a research associate in the Department of Computing and Mathematics at the University of Ulster, UK, in 2014.
Jun's doctoral research focussed on sensor-based recognition of physical activity for monitoring of patients, using machine learning and expert systems. Special emphases of her work have been "lifelogging" physical activity patterns, and the analysis of time-series data from wearable sensors.
While with CHI Lab, Jun's also included predictive models for clinical applications, and investigating the effects of activity on Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and other neurodegenerative conditions.
