Research Interests

Martin's research investigates how localised deformations influence the mechanical behaviour of thin shells. Recently he has been investigating the influence of creases on the large-deflection behaviour of thin plates.

His research focuses on developing concise mathematical models which are verified using careful experimentation and finite element analysis. His work seeks to bridge the gap between theoretical mechanics and engineering applications.
