Peng Xie DPhil

Research Fellow

Dr. Peng Xie obtained his PhD degree in physics at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2020. During his PhD career, he was awarded a scholarship by China Scholarship Council to study at Massachusetts Institute of Technology as a joint PhD student from 2018 to 2019. His research work was focused on the design of nonlinear optical device and its application´╝îincluding nano-scale waveguide, micro-ring resonator. In his previous research, based on the self-designed optical devices, he has achieved time-lens system and novel laser source via frequency comb, which have great potential for the applications of optical communication and signal processing.

Peng joined the Soft Matter Photonics group in February 2021 and is supervised by Dr. Stephen Morris and Prof. Steve Elston. At Oxford, Peng is developing new nano-scale devices based on liquid crystals and polymers.
