Dr Wajahat Ali did his bachelor’s in electrical engineering from Pakistan back in 2007 with distinction. He started career as a RF Planning and Optimization Engineer in Telenor Pakistan. After four years, he decided to enhance his educational span and therefore sought Erasmus Mundus Masters in Photonic Networks Engineering (MAPNET). In 2013, he secured Marie Curie PhD scholarship (FP7 INFIERI project) in Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna Pisa Italy. He designed Optical Wireless Communication (OWC) links for High Energy Physics (HEP) experiments and medical physics. After completing PhD in 2016, he worked in the same institute as Post-Doc fellow for two years.
Since 2019, he has been working as PDRA in department of Engineering science University of Oxford. His aim is to design ultra-sensitive optical receivers based on silicon photo-multipliers and fluorescent concentrators.
Wajahat's research interests are in the field of visible light/optical wireless communications, fibre-wireless-fibre and optical fibre communications.
EPSRC Super Receivers for Visible Light Communications: The project aims to create new super receivers that are significantly more sensitive than existing optical receivers.
