Interdisciplinary AI – Understanding Human Skill in Healthcare Settings
Human skill, and differentiation of human skill levels is poorly understood. How to measure human skill at a task in an objective way is also a largely open research question. The technical component of the third work package aims to develop video and multi-modal learning-based tools to objectively study human skill at performing healthcare tasks and develop AI Instructors capable of assessing human competence at tasks, and assisting humans in learning new tasks. We are also exploring how AI adoption and interdisciplinary AI research are reshaping expectations of human skills in healthcare.
Healthcare Research AI Ambassador Programme
Work package 3 includes a Healthcare Research AI Ambassador Scheme for researchers with backgrounds in clinical practice, humanities (including AI ethics), and experimental psychology. The scheme provides opportunities for such researchers to collaborate with AI scientists in developing human skill models for clinical tasks and studying AI adoption in clinical settings. Through these partnerships, we aim to strengthen the integration of human expertise and AI, supporting the development of safe, effective, and user-centred healthcare technologies.
