Alumni
Jiaqi Li
Jiaqi completed her MEng in Engineering Science (First-Class Honours) at the University of Oxford, specializing in information and biomedical engineering. She conducted her master's project with the Healthcare Biorobotics Lab, focusing on the design and development of an AI-powered tracheal intubation training system. Prior to this, she contributed to projects ranging from indoor mapping for hospital population movement tracking to the creation of a closed-loop physiological device aimed at relieving postpartum stress urinary incontinence.
Dr. Zhongchao Zhou
Zhongchao Zhou is currently a project researcher at the Matsuo-Iwazawa Lab at the University of Tokyo. He earned his B.Eng. degree in Electromechanical Engineering from Qingdao University of Science & Technology, China, in 2018, followed by a M.Eng. degree from Chiba University, Japan, in 2021. From 2023 to 2024, he was a visiting student with the Healthcare Biorobotics Lab at Oxford. His research interests include soft rehabilitation and medical robotics, control theory and learning control. In 2024, He received a PhD in Medical Engineering from Chiba University, Chiba, Japan.
Ella Reynolds
Ella completed her MEng at Oxford Engineering Science with St Hugh’s College, specializing in software and biomedical engineering. For her final-year project, she developed wearable soft robotics integrated with virtual reality environments to enhance rehabilitation outcomes for stroke patients. She has previously contributed to projects ranging from using autonomous robots to detect falls in care facilities to coordinating the delivery of care packages to elderly people during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Oliver Wing
Oli completed his MEng at Oxford Engineering Science with Exeter College. At HBL, he focused on the development of a Haptic suit with multimodal haptic feedback. He has published the work and presented the paper at the International Conference of Soft Robotics 2025, Lausanne, Switzerland.
Rachel Tcheng
Rachel completed her MEng at Oxford Engineering Science with Balliol College. At HBL, her work focused on the development of a Haptic embodied virtual reality training system for Trachea Intubation.
Abdul Muhammad
Abdul completed his MEng at Oxford Engineering Science with Balliol College. At HBL, he focused on the development of a multimodal haptic device with the integration of electrotactile stimulation using flexible electronics.
