HBL Members Inspire Future Biomedical Engineers at IBME Open Day

Prof Liang He, Dr Ryman Hashem, Dr Chenying Liu, Mr Yixing Lei, and Ms Rachel Tcheng bring their research to IBME Open Day

On March 13, 2025, members of HBL participated in the IBME Open Day, engaging with a group of aspiring biomedical engineers. The event provided young students with valuable insights into the field and showcased cutting-edge research.

Dr. Chenying Liu delivered a compelling mini-lecture on protective helmet design, highlighting how structural and mechanical engineering can play a crucial role in reducing traumatic brain injuries. Meanwhile, Mr. Yixing Lei, Dr. Ryman Hashem, and Ms. Rachel Tcheng led an interactive demonstration session on behalf of the Podium Institute, featuring their latest research on soft robotics and augmented reality for rehabilitation.

The event was a resounding success, attracting around 70 students from across the UK. Many left with a newfound appreciation for biomedical engineering and its potential to transform lives.
