Our vision

Our research integrates tools from continuum mechanics, thermodynamics, statistical physics, and applied mathematics to understand the mechanical and functional behaviour of a broad range of engineering materials. We aim to develop constitutive theories and computational models that capture the key underlying physics while remaining useful for materials and engineering design. Our work addresses a variety of phenomena, including rubber elasticity, viscoelasticity, plasticity in amorphous systems, and multiphysics couplings. Materials of interest include polymers, soft materials, and energy materials.

Our research group is part of the Solid Mechanics and Materials Group of the Department of Engineering Science at the University of Oxford.
