Impact

Our vision is to design interventions that provide a major step-change in our ability to control pain.

Broadly, the research outputs provide impact in several ways:

• Mechanistic insights: by providing a deeper understanding of the neural mechanisms of pain processing and identification of clinically relevant biomarkers associated with pain states.
• Personalised therapy: development of a personalised treatment pipeline using physiological profiles to implement adaptive neuromodulation protocols that can dynamically adjust in real-time to optimize pain relief and functional outcomes.
• Enhanced efficacy and safety: improved efficacy and safety of neuromodulation therapies by integrating physiological measurements and control theory into closed-loop systems.
• Clinical translation: translation of findings into clinical practice through collaboration with healthcare professionals and regulatory agencies to validate the efficacy and safety of the proposed treatment paradigm in chronic pain patients.
