Katarina at the Clinical Frontiers in Paediatric Neurology Conference

Katarina recently presented her work at the Clinical Frontiers in Paediatric Neurology conference in Ljubljana, Slovenia, held on 24–25 October. Together with Dr Ružica Kravljanac and Dr. Vladimir Oparnica from the Institute of Mother and Child Healthcare in Belgrade, she showcased a machine learning approach for analysing paediatric EEG data.

The project aims to develop a tool that automatically detects spike–wave activity in paediatric EEG recordings by labelling each epoch and generating an overall SW index. We tested standard machine learning methods to classify epochs and produced pseudo-labels for the large portions of unlabelled data. This approach reduces the time clinicians spend manually reviewing multi-hour EEGs and has the potential to streamline care in tertiary centres serving patients across Serbia and the broader region.
