Jet-Engine Health Monitoring
Collaborators
- Prof. Lionel Tarassenko (project lead)
- Rolls-Royce plc.
Description
This work performed "health monitoring" of Rolls-Royce jet engines, and is now used with the Airbus A380, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, and the Eurofighter Typhoon. Within the Government-funded "HECToR" project, led by Prof. Tarassenko, David Clifton created a range of new engine-health monitoring technologies based on Bayesian data analysis, and with contributions in the field of extreme value statistics. He continues to provide Rolls-Royce plc with scientific advice and further development via consultancy.
Much of this work was commercialised by the university spin-out company, Oxford Biosignals Ltd., which was since acquired by Rolls-Royce plc.
