Invited Talk by Dr. Farah Shamout from NYU Abu Dhabi

On 2 September 2025, we invited Dr. Farah Shamout from New York University Abu Dhabi to deliver an invited talk to our group. Dr. Shamout presented her group’s research in multi-modal clinical AI, equal and trustworthy clinical AI, and considerable adoption of large language models (LLMs) for digital health. Her work places particular focus on advancing fairness in healthcare, leveraging electronic health records (EHRs), and extending AI systems to operate in languages beyond English.

The talk offered valuable perspectives on how AI can support equitable healthcare worldwide. Our group gained important insights from Dr. Shamout’s research, particularly regarding differences in healthcare priorities across countries, and left the session inspired to consider new approaches in our own work.
