We are seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join the Oxygen research group at the Department of Engineering Science (IBME, Headington). This full-time post is funded by EPSRC and is fixed-term until 31 May 2024. This is a joint project in collaboration with Dr. Manuel Spitschan (Department of Experimental Psychology).
This role will entail collecting and analysing pupillometry data from healthy volunteers using a comprehensive battery of visual stimuli varying in intensity, wavelength and temporal waveform using a novel, cutting-edge visual stimulation system. Visual stimulation protocols are optimised to target the different photoreceptors in the human eye, i.e. cones, rods, and melanopsin, with high specificity. The pupillometry data will be combined with neuroimaging and physiological data using machine learning approaches to determine a minimal data set and analysis algorithm for diagnosing specific cerebrovascular impairments in patient populations (including Alzheimer’s disease).
You will hold a PhD (or be near completion) in a relevant field (e.g. visual neuroscience, experimental psychology, engineering) and have experience with pupillometry or similar physiological measurements, time-series analysis, filtering and modelling of physiological data. Experience with machine learning and programming in Matlab, Python, or C++ would be beneficial, as well as experience with developing and using prototype devices and hardware.
