Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Ocean Wave Physics

Standard Grade 7: £33,309 - £40,927 per annum

Description

We are seeking a full-time postdoc to join Enviromental Fluid Mechanics group at the Department of Engineering Science (central Oxford).  The post is funded by EPSRC and is fixed-term until 31st December 2023.

 

The Wave Breaking in Crossing Seas (WBICS) project aims to improve our understanding of the physics and statistics of this phenomenom. You will be responsible for developing a model for breaking “crest length” in crossing seas and then implementing this using the physical insights from other parts of the project in WAVEWATCH III. 

 

You should possess a PhD (or close to completion) in ocean engineering/oceanography or cognate subject. You will have the ability to develop new models of physical processes and work with large and complex numerical models, You will manage your own academic research and have experience in contributing to publications and presentations, with excellent communication skills.
