Description

We are seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Electrolytes for Lithium-Ion Batteries to join the Monroe group at the Department of Engineering Science.  This post is funded by the Faraday Institution Multiscale Modelling Project and is a fixed term post, ending 31 March 2025.

This project focusses on the experimental characterization of cosolvent lithium-ion electrolytes, to refine their descriptions in physics-based models of lithium-ion batteries. You will design, implement, and analyse experiments to establish properties such as thermodynamic factors, conductivity, diffusivity, and transference numbers. Work will begin with composition-dependent property determination for the EMC:EC:LiPF6 system, including the ultraconcentrated salt regime.

You should possess a PhD/DPhil in a relevant discipline. Experience with electrochemical experiments (in inert atmospheres) and rheology, particularly with Li-ion battery materials, is desirable. You will gather and publish high-quality data, exhibit leadership within the group, present at conferences, and engage with the broader community.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Charles Monroe (charles.monroe@eng.ox.ac.uk)

For more information about working at the Department, see  www.eng.ox.ac.uk/about/work-with-us/

Only online applications received before midday on 29 March 2023 can be considered. You will be required to upload a covering letter/supporting statement, including a brief statement of research interests (describing how past experience and future plans fit with the advertised position), CV and the details of two referees as part of your online application.

The Department holds an Athena Swan Bronze award, highlighting its commitment to promoting women in Science, Engineering and Technology.
