Senior Research Associate in Hypersonics

We are seeking a full-time Senior Research Assistant to join the Hypersonics research group at the Department of Engineering Science (Oxford Thermofluids Institute). The post is for a fixed-term of 14 months with potential further extension. The project will include the development and experimentation of transpiration cooling technology for hypersonic flight vehicles. The post will be involved in a larger EPSRC funded programme on transpiration cooling for both gas turbines and hypersonic vehicles. There will also be opportunity to be involved in other experimental research programmes being undertaken in the Oxford high speed wind tunnels.

You should possess a doctorate in experimental aerospace engineering or a relevant field, with experience in experiments for high speed compressible flows. An option to underfill at Grade 7 (£32,817- £40,322 p.a.) is available if candidate does not have sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to develop research projects and methodologies. You should have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work on a collaborative project. Good organizational skills and the ability to communicate scientific ideas to an expert audience are also required.
