We are seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the Estimation, Search, and Planning group of the Oxford Robotics Institute and the Department of Engineering Science in central Oxford. The post is funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and is fixed-term for a period of 2 years.
The postdoctoral researcher will contribute to our research effort towards the EPSRC – ACE-OPS project.
The project will investigate and develop approaches to guide autonomous 3D reconstruction using aerial robotic platforms as part of an EPSRC ACE-OPS: From Autonomy to Cognitive assistance in Emergency OPerationS grant. The work will continue research on Surface Edge Explorer (SEE) and similar representation-free next-best view planning algorithms with the goal to demonstrate and evaluate them on real robotic platforms as well as advance the development of ORI’s aerial robotic platforms.
You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating the latest version of this code in conjunction with researchers and engineers at ORI and project partners at other institutions.
You should have a PhD/DPhil in engineering with a focus on robotics or be near completion. You should have a proven record of academic excellence in planning and/or 3D computer vision with programming experience in C++, python and other common languages. You should have proven ability to plan and execute experiments.
