We are seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Optoelectronic Device Engineering to join Prof. Jin-Chong Tan’s group (Multifunctional Materials & Composites Laboratory: in the Department of Engineering Science at Oxford. The post is funded by the European Research Council Proof of Concept (ERC PoC) Grant “LUMIVOCS” (Portable Luminescent Sensor for Volatile Organic Compounds) and is fixed-term for 18 months and available from 1st January 2021.

The research project will involve the design, build, and test of a compact sensor instrument for high-sensitivity luminescent sensing of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The prototype device will incorporate novel Guest@MOF photoluminescent materials discovered in the group, which could detect a low concentration of VOCs pertinent to healthcare diagnosis and air quality control applications.

You should hold a PhD/DPhil in optoelectronic/electrical engineering or related subjects. Candidates with prior experience in the design, building, and testing of novel portable sensors and photonic devices are greatly encouraged to apply.
