Description

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to develop a wide range of web services? In this role, you would be contributing to the development and ongoing support of a wide range of internal and external web services to support the work of the Department of Engineering Science.


You will be the technical lead on exploring new systems within the Department by understanding the requirements of users and anticipating what future need might be. You will be expected to contribute to reviews of existing technology and make recommendations on upcoming technologies and implement them where required.


You will also take forward the use of the Department’s web platforms by taking the lead on migrating older research subsites, taking into account the requirements of key stakeholders and liaising with our external website company for enhancements or changes to existing website functionality.


You will be educated to degree level in a relevant subject (or equivalent experience). You must have experience of using common web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript), website management, as well as developing online services using PHP and MySQL. Familiarity with web CMS (such as Sharepoint, Plone, Umbraco), and experience of supporting websites in a Windows Server environment (IIS) and Linux (Apache) are key. Strong communication skills and good attention to detail are also vital.
