Description
We are seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join the Machine Learning Research Group at the Department of Engineering Science (central Oxford). The post is funded by the Wellcome Trust and is fixed-term for three years.
This research position aims to develop machine learning algorithms to enable learning human ethical values from survey data. The postdoctoral researcher will contribute to an interdisciplinary research programme, requiring close collaboration with researchers from philosophy and bioethics. The required algorithms must ideally be methodologically novel, adhere to best practices, and be applicable to large-scale survey results. The successful candidate will work at the intersection of machine learning, ethics, and social science, focusing on inverse reinforcement learning (IRL) techniques.
You should have a relevant PhD/DPhil (or be near completion), together with research experience in inverse reinforcement learning (or related machine learning techniques for learning preferences from data) and have proven experience with relevant software engineering projects.
Informal enquiries may be addressed to either Steve Roberts (sjrob@robots.ox.ac.uk) or Mike Osborne (mosb@robots.ox.ac.uk).
