Standard Grade 8: £47,085 – £55,895 with a discretionary range to £60,921 per annum (including Oxford University Weighting)

Description
We are seeking a Programme Manager for a new research institute driving pioneering research and science in youth sports health and working to provide a holistic understanding of the individual factors that lead to injury in youth sports. The post is funded by Podium Analytics, an NGO dedicated to safety in youth sport and is fixed-term to 30 September 2027.
About the role
You will play a leadership role in the management of the Podium Institute for Youth Sport Medicine and Technology at the University of Oxford, taking full responsibility for all operational aspects including administrative, financial and practical support within the institute in the context of the wider support structures of the Institute of Biomedical Engineering and the Department of Engineering Science. You will have key responsibilities in the areas of financial and contractual management, research management and administration, communication and liaison, and planning and reporting, and will be a member of the Institute’s management committee. Working closely with the institute Director, the focus of the role will be on delivering the operational activities linked to the research objectives of the Institute, as well as helping to develop and sustain future research programmes, and to represent the Podium Institute externally.
About you
You should be educated to degree level or have equivalent experience, with evidence of strong intellectual, numerical and analytical skills. You should have a track record working in a management position in a complex organisation with demonstrable experience of financial management, project management and managing a team. Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills will be essential, as will the ability to handle and prioritise a wide portfolio of responsibilities in a challenging environment. Previous experience of working in an engineering, medical, research or a scientific environment is desirable. Previous experience of working in sports management or with sports governing bodies is also an advantage.
