Description
We are seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join the Visual Geometry Group (VGG) at the Department of Engineering Science (central Oxford). The post is funded by the EPSRC SIgnGPT project and is fixed-term for two years, with the possibility of extension.
The objective of this project is to carry out computer vision and machine learning research in order to be able to translate British Sign Language (BSL) into English text. This will involve designing deep learning models that can learn from the available annotated datasets, and also build in a linguistic understanding of BSL. You will be responsible for building datasets, developing and evaluating models for this task, presenting and publishing work at international conferences, and co-supervising students.
You should possess a PhD/DPhil in Computer Vision or Machine Learning (or be near completion) and hold a strong publication record in this field. You must have sufficient theoretical and practical knowledge of methodologies such as deep and statistical learning.
Informal enquiries may be addressed to Professor Andrew Zisserman (email: Andrew.Zisserman@eng.ox.ac.uk)
