Biography
Olive Jung is a DPhil candidate currently completing her studies in the National Institutes of Health (NIH)-Oxford Scholars Program. She is also a predoctoral Intramural Research Training Award (IRTA) fellow in the 3-D Tissue Bioprinting Program at the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS). Olive is currently completing her MD-DPhil training, and will return to medical school to complete clinical education after finishing the doctoral program at the NIH and the University of Oxford.
Research Interests
Olive is currently working to build 3-dimensional (3-D), flow-based blood-brain barrier (BBB) model that is multi-cellular so that the system can be a useful tool to study microbubble interaction with relevant cell types in a more physiologically relevant microenvironment. She is interested in neurovascular biology, specifically with the role that brain endothelial cells play in facilitating homeostasis and disease progression.
Current Projects
- In vitro human BBB model development to study FUS and MB behaviour in the tissue microenvironment (Oxford/NCATS);
- Use of FUS+MB as proof-of-concept to deliver non-permeable compounds (Oxford);
- Development of vascularized lung models for COVID initiative (NCATS)
