Biography
Rachel received her PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences from the University of British Columbia, Canada in 2021. Under the supervision of Professor Teresa Liu-Ambrose, her doctoral research utilised lesion network mapping to identify the functional networks disrupted by cerebral small vessel disease. She investigated the role of these networks in cognition and mobility impairment, as well as the use of resistance training to target disease progression. She then joined Professor Helen Brontë-Stewart at Stanford University, where she used diverse neuroimaging methodologies to evaluate novel targets for deep brain stimulation in people with Parkinson’s Disease.
In October 2023, Rachel began working under the supervision of Professors Tim Denison and Ben Seymour at the University of Oxford. Her current work investigates the use of neuromodulation and neurofeedback techniques to treat chronic pain.
