We are seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Experimental Combustion to join the Thermal Propulsion Systems research group at the Department of Engineering Science (central Oxford). The post is funded by the EPSRC and is fixed-term to 31 December 2022 (with a possible 2 year extension subject to progress and performance).

The position serves the Oxford and JLR led “Centre of Excellence for Hybrid Thermal Propulsion Systems” which aims to establish Jaguar Land Rover, UK industry, and UK academia as the world leaders in hybrid thermal propulsion system science and technology. You will lead experimental programs for combustion and soot model validation and development and the characterisation of novel fuels.

You should possess a relevant PhD/DPhil (or near completion) in engineering, computational sciences, physical sciences, or mathematics, together with particular expertise in one or more of the following fields: optical diagnostics applied to reacting flows, shock tube experiments and/or combustion studies in constant volume reaction vessels.
