Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Soft Manipulation

We are seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join the Soft Robotics Lab, part of the Oxford Robotics Institute at the Department of Engineering Science (Oxford). The post is funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and is for a fixed duration of 12 months.
The candidate will carry out fundamental research in soft robotics manipulation with particular focus on tactile perception. You will design and develop soft robotics end-effectors with distributed sensing and variable stiffness and will develop robust approaches for intelligent manipulation.
You should have a PhD/DPhil (or near completion) in robotics, mechatronics, computer vision, machine learning or closely related field. You have an excellent academic track record in topics relevant to robotics, tactile perception, soft sensing, soft actuators, control or related areas. You should have experience working on real robots and great team working skills.
