The Department of Engineering Science intends to appoint an Associate Professor of Engineering Science (Information Engineering) from 4 January 2021 or as soon as possible thereafter. The successful candidate will work at the Department of Engineering Science and will be offered a Tutorial Fellowship at Lady Margaret Hall under arrangements described in the Job Description. The combined University and College salary will be on a scale currently £48,114 - £64,605 p.a. plus additional benefits. The appointment will be initially for 5 years at which point, upon completion of a successful review, the postholder will be eligible for reappointment to the retiring age.

This appointment will strengthen the Department's internationally renowned research in Information Engineering. Applications from candidates with a strong research background in any one or more of sensing, graphics, optimisation, signal processing, robotics, mobile computing, communications, machine learning and sensor networks are welcome.

Candidates will have a strong research background, including a doctorate, and will be expected to engage in and lead high-quality original research. They will be able to secure external research funding and engage in the management of research projects. This will require the supervision of research students and research assistants. They will be expected to contribute to the teaching of undergraduate courses in the Department of Engineering Science, which may include lectures, tutorials and practical classes, and the supervision of undergraduate design and project work. For the College they will deliver six hours of tutorial and class teaching per week averaged over the three terms (24 weeks total) of the academic year, as well as contribute to the pastoral care of students.

They will have the ability to teach effectively, both at undergraduate and graduate levels, and have excellent interpersonal skills for undertaking tutorial teaching.
