Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Experimental Hypersonics
Grade 7: £33,309 - £40,927 per annum

We are seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join the Hypersonics research group at the Department of Engineering Science (Oxford Thermofluids Institute). The post is for a fixed-term of 1 year.
The immediate role for the successful applicant will be undertaking experiments in the hypersonic facilities at the University of Oxford. This will include the investigation of high-speed boundary layer transition, aerodynamic forces, thermochemistry and heat transfer on simplified models. This will may include the development of models, analysing experimental data and development of theoretical models. The successful applicant will need to work closely with other internal members of the group and ensure the objectives and timeline of external sponsors are satisfied. The candidate will have some freedom and time to explore their own pursuits, research funding permitting. The candidate will be expected to perform additional engineering tasks to ensure the development of both the tunnels and the measurements within.
You should possess a doctorate in a relevant field or be near completion with experience in experiments for high speed compressible flows. You should have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work on a collaborative project. Good organizational skills and the ability to communicate scientific ideas to an expert audience are also required.
