Senior Research Software Engineer in Biomedical Image Analysis

Description
We are seeking a full-time Research Software Engineering to join the research group of Professor Jens Rittscher at the Department of Engineering Science, Institute of Biomedical Engineering, Headington. The post is funded by the Wellcome Trust Bioimaging Technology Development Award and is fixed-term until 30 April 2026.
The Research Software Engineer will develop novel algorithms using latest computer vision and machine learning techniques that will enable the detection and analysis of tissue architecture components and subtle disease related changes in images of 3D tissues. You will also implement biomedical image analysis workflows and oversee data processing. This will involve utilisation of deep learning methodologies and the processing of complex large datasets. Here, you will work with other team members to integrate newly developed deep learning models into image processing pipelines.
You should hold a relevant PhD/DPhil with post-qualification experience in deep learning and biomedical image analysis. You should also have a strong interest in cross-disciplinary research and experience in supporting users of complex software packages. Experience in medical imaging and large-scale data processing is also essential.
