Professor Malavika Nair appointed Royce Research Area Lead for Biomedical Materials
Oxford Engineering’s Prof Nair takes on national leadership role with the Henry Royce Institute, advancing innovation in biomaterials and healthcare-focused materials science

In her new role, Prof Malavika Nair (Institute of Biomedical Engineering) will help shape the strategic direction of her research area, Biomedical Materials, within the Royce network, which spans leading UK universities and research institutions. She will contribute to national and international collaborations, support innovation across academia and industry, and lead initiatives that advance the UK’s capabilities in materials science and engineering.
This appointment highlights Oxford’s central role in the Royce partnership and reflects her expertise in biomaterials and biomedical engineering, with a strong focus on developing advanced materials to address the needs of future healthcare.
Speaking on the announcement, Prof Nair said:
