Biography
Andreas graduated with an MEng in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Surrey in 2023 and an MSc in Materials Science and Engineering from Imperial College London in 2024. During his time at the University of Surrey, he also completed a year-long placement in the Microstructural Studies Unit (MSSU), where he applied material characterisation techniques to university- and industry-related projects.
In 2024, Andreas joined the Solid Mechanics and Materials group as a DPhil student under the supervision of Prof. Dong Liu and Prof. Clive Siviour. His research focuses on the thermo-mechanical behaviour of TRISO (TRistructural-ISOtropic) particles, in an attempt to deliver robust and safe fuel options for Generation IV nuclear reactors.
Research Interests
- Advanced Stress Analysis
- Fracture Mechanics
