Biography
Asif Mehdi, a DPhil student studying under the supervision of Professor Paulo Savaget, is exploring how countries without proprietary solar technologies can effectively adopt solar technologies to achieve sustainability transitions to net-zero. His research examines how an ecosystem is formed for solar technologies, assesses policy interventions to destabilise unsustainable energy sources, and investigates end-of-life solar panel waste recycling mechanisms within a circular economy framework. Using ecosystem theory, multi-level perspective, and circular economy lenses, Asif seeks to better understand how the empowering of solar technologies takes place in a country that does not have proprietary solar technologies.
Along with BSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Asif completed his MSc in Strategic Innovation Management with distinction from the University of Sussex. Asif brings 16 years of diversified experience in the engineering and technology departments of public and private organisations. In addition to working on his DPhil, Asif inspires thousands of youths through his write-ups towards science, technology, and innovation management for sustainable development. His work includes 35 books, and he has received several awards for his academic, and professional excellence.
