Biography

Aya Abdelmeguid is a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Design for the Circular Economy at the Department of Engineering Science, University of Oxford. She contributes to research at the ZERO Institute (Zero-carbon Energy Research Oxford), working on the Circular Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE) Project, a UKRI-funded initiative aimed at tackling Waste EEE and advancing the UK’s transition to a low-carbon circular economy. This project involves collaboration with over 24 partners representing stakeholders across the EEE value chain.

Aya’s research focuses on identifying full-lifecycle systems barriers and enablers for circularity, developing and evaluating circular product-service systems and business models, and promoting sustainable consumer behaviours by improving access to circular economy solutions through public engagement and citizen science. Aya holds a PhD from Cranfield University, where she used a systems-thinking approach to explore the challenges, consumer behaviour, industry trends, and strategies involved in transitioning to a circular economy.
