Biography
Gerry is a DPhil Student on the Wind and Marine Energy Systems and Structures EPSRC CDT.
He previously graduated with a BE in Civil Engineering from University College of Cork and a MSc in Engineering Fluid Mechanics for the Offshore, Coastal and Built Environments from Imperial College London. Following this Gerry spent two years in the offshore industry as a Structural Engineer working on various projects in the North Sea and further afield.
His work with Oxford has initially entailed developing numerical modelling tools to analyse offshore wind structures.
Research Interests
Gerry is particularly interested in applying recent technological developments in soil foundation models to renewable energy structures to explore potential benefits to the sector. The initial objective of his DPhil project is to develop an in-house numerical model which can model the full offshore wind structure while incorporating the findings of recent state of the art foundation models.
