Biography
James studied Aerospace Engineering at Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands, and graduated cum laude with honours. He also took part in a six-month exchange to ETH Zurich, Switzerland, where he completed a minor in human factors and cockpit technologies. Alongside his regular degree programme, James developed a deep semi-supervised learning method for composite structure prognostics. For his honours project, he investigated biodynamic feedthrough for future in-vehicle touchscreens in turbulent environments. James has held a private pilot’s license since 2022. He joined the control group at the University of Oxford in October 2025, where he is researching how neural network control systems for aircraft can be designed to remain safe when supervised by a human pilot.
