Biography

Junaid is an Instrumentation and Control Systems Engineer in the Teaching Design and Support Group at the Department of Engineering Science. He works on teaching and design of coursework related to Computing, Control, and Instrumentation. He holds an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from North Carolina State University USA, where he specialized in Control Systems.

His professional expertise spans Embedded Systems, Instrumentation, and Control, with hands-on experience across a range of engineering domains including digital system design, unmanned aerial vehicles, prosthetics, computer vision, machine learning, and the Internet of Things (IoT). His work combines strong theoretical grounding with practical implementation, supporting both research and teaching activities. His current research interests include distributed control and optimization problems for multi-agent systems.

Before joining Oxford, Junaid served as a Lecturer at Habib University and as the Technical Lead Engineer for Smart Meter Design in the Karachi Water Project, applying his engineering background to real-world measurement, monitoring, and instrumentation challenges.

He enjoys mentoring students through lab-based learning, helping them connect curriculum concepts with the practical aspects of systems design, instrumentation principles, and modern control techniques.

Junaid is a Senior Member of the IEEE and an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA).
