Biography
Max Boleininger graduated from the Department of Physics, Mainz in 2012 and obtained a PhD from Imperial College in 2017 through the Centre of Doctoral training in Theory and Simulation of Materials. Max joined the UK Atomic Energy Authority as a EUROfusion fellow, where he is now utilising high-performance computing simulations, numerical, and analytical techniques to develop predictive models of materials behaviour in a fusion reactor. Max joined the department in Oxford as a Visiting Fellow in 2025.
Research Interests
Max' main research field is the use of atomistic simulations to predict microstructural evolution of metals subjected to irradiation, with a particular focus on defect-driven dynamics, such as swelling and irradiation creep.
