Biography
Smriti is a Research Assistant working on energy and critical mineral governance in Africa as part of the Climate Compatible Growth programme, headed by Prof. Stephanie Hirmer. She is interested in working on the intersection of environment and development issues in LMICs, especially related to land governance. Most recently, her work focuses on the social and environmental impacts of critical mineral mining in Zambia. Prior to this, Smriti worked with the Spatial Finance Initiative at the Oxford Sustainable Finance group on geospatial analysis and the valuation of ecosystem services. She holds an MSc in Environmental Change and Management from the University of Oxford as a Weidenfeld Hoffmann scholar and a BA in Environmental Studies and Public Policy from FLAME University, India.
