Biography
Dr X Li joined Mechanics of Materials Lab as a postdoctoral research associate in September 2024. Prior to it, she gained her DPhil in materials from University of Oxford in July 2024, where she studied microstructure and micromechanics of hydrides in zirconium by advanced materials characterization techniques and mechanical tests. She gained her MSc in advanced materials science and engineering with distinction from Imperial college London in 2017 and BEng in materials science and engineering from Central South University in 2016.
Research Interests
- Hydrogen embrittlement of nickel
- Hydrogen trapping in metals and alloys
- Microstructure characterization, including SEM, EBSD, EDX and TKD
- Mechanical testing and strain measurement
- New generation of hydrogen-resistant materials
Research Projects
I focus on producing new hydrogen-resistant materials by controlling their microstructure by nano-fabrication and further clarifying the hydrogen trapping effects of defects.
