Biography
Yoochan (Eugene) attained a degree in BEng Mechanical Engineering from University of Sydney, GradDip and MPhil in Mining Engineering from Western Australian School of Mines, Curtin University. He an experienced Chartered Professional Engineer in Australia and worldwide with over a decade of experience across various sectors, including mining, oil and gas, and rail. During his time as in MPhil, his research focused on the application of machine learning to enhance the profitability of mining operations. He has worked as an engineer at companies such as Samsung C&T, BHP and Rio Tinto. He joined the Civil and Offshore Engineering research group at the University of Oxford as a DPhil student in 2024.
Current Research Projects
His DPhil research concentrates on utilizing microwave heating to develop different building materials derived from Lunar and Martian regolith soils, as well as exploring potential ground improvement applications on Earth.
