Circular Economy and Sustainability Lab

Our lab seeks to enable the transition to a low-carbon, Circular Economy in which product lifetimes are maximised and products and systems are effectively designed for reuse, repair, remanufacture and recycling.

We adopt a whole systems design approach that jointly considers the full spectrum of Circular Economy strategies across the lifecycle. We integrate methods from systems engineering, engineering design and business model innovation to tackle multi-level design challenges at the material-, component-, product-, and system-level. As part of our approach, we work closely with industry to tackle design and engineering challenges within their broader social, technical, environmental and economic systems.
