The Department will support flexible working arrangements wherever possible. There are many different types of flexible working e.g. part-time working; compressed hours (for example, working full weekly hours over four rather than five days); job-sharing; staggered hours; term-time only working, or working from home.
The Department supports all prospective parents in taking parental leave. Where possible additional support arrangements are discussed which may help with the return to work or continuing research during maternity, paternity or adoption leave.
Family leave is available in line with the University policy.
The Department has been running an annual PDR scheme which enables staff to discuss their own development and career aspirations. It is also a suitable forum for seeking additional training, guidance or support.
