Description
Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Reactor Modelling and Optimization for CO2 removal (2 posts)
Grade 7: £34,308 - £42,155 per annum
We are seeking two full-time PDRAs to join the systems engineering group at the Department of Engineering Science (central Oxford). The posts are funded by the Windward Fund and are fixed-term for 18 months, expected to start in May 2023.
You will be part of a joint research project between Oxford, Heriot-Watt and Hamburg (Germany) universities to explore the potential of a mineral weathering based technical scheme for removing CO2 from atmosphere.
You will be responsible for carrying out mathematical modelling (Post 1) or model-based optimization (Post 2) of a reactor system involving mineral dissolution and precipitation.
You will possess a PhD (or near completion) in chemical engineering (or a related subject area) with experience in developing detailed chemical reactor models involving reaction kinetics and transport phenomena (Post 1) or solving mathematical optimization problems (Post 2). You will benefit from prior experience in modelling and/or optimization of solids dissolution and precipitation processes. You should be able to work efficiently within a multidisciplinary team.
