Fredrik Gustafsson PhD

Dr

Postdoctoral Researcher

Biography

Fredrik is a postdoctoral researcher in the Computational Health Informatics Lab of Prof. David Clifton. His research focuses on how to build and evaluate reliable machine learning models, for applications within data-driven medicine and healthcare. It has often included regression problems, uncertainty estimation methods or energy-based models.

Before moving to Oxford, Fredrik was a postdoctoral researcher at Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, working on machine learning and computer vision for computational pathology. He received his BSc in Applied Physics and Electrical Engineering in 2016 and his MSc in Electrical Engineering in 2018, both from Linköping University. During his MSc, he spent one year as an exchange student at Stanford University. He received his PhD in Machine Learning in 2023 from Uppsala University for the thesis Towards Accurate and Reliable Deep Regression Models. Fredrik is originally from Trollhättan, Sweden.
