Biography
Izzet Tarik Tandogan is a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in the Brassart Research Group at the University of Oxford, led by Prof. Laurence Brassart. He received his BSc and MSc in Aerospace Engineering from Middle East Technical University in 2020 and his PhD in Georesources and Materials Engineering from RWTH Aachen University in 2026. Before joining Oxford, he was a Doctoral Researcher at Forschungszentrum Jülich, Germany.
His current research focuses on developing physically motivated constitutive models for biodegradable polymers, investigating the coupled effects of aqueous degradation and mechanical deformation to enable their reliable use in potential biomedical applications and to advance environmentally sustainable materials. During his doctoral research, he developed constitutive models describing the microstructural evolution and mechanical behaviour of metallic materials during thermomechanical processing by bringing together the modelling of mechanical deformation and grain boundary processes within a unified multi-physics framework.

His current project focuses on development and experimental validation chemo-mechanically coupled constitutive models for polymers undergoing hydrolytic degradation.
