Biography

Mohab Elmarakbi is a D.Phil. student in Engineering Science at the University of Oxford. He previously completed a BEng in Mechanical Engineering at Northumbria University, graduating with First Class Honours and receiving the IMechE Project Award for his work on crashworthy vehicle structures.

Prior to his doctoral studies, he worked as a Research Fellow at Northumbria University, contributing to multiple Horizon Europe projects focused on advanced materials modelling, virtual testing, and sustainable engineering systems. His experience spans the development of constitutive models, finite element simulations, and multidisciplinary optimisation frameworks.

His doctoral research focuses on understanding deformation and failure mechanisms in body-centred cubic metals under extreme loading conditions, with the aim of improving predictive capability for material behaviour in safety-critical applications.
