Biography

Rahul Arora is a DPhil Student and Rhodes Scholar in the Computational Health Informatics Lab at the University of Oxford. He is also an Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Calgary.

Rahul’s research focuses on data science for infectious disease surveillance. He leads SeroTracker, a dashboard and data platform for COVID-19 antibody testing, which is funded by the Public Health Agency of Canada through Canada’s COVID-19 Immunity Task Force.

Before Oxford, Rahul co-founded the medical diagnostics startup ENTid, worked as a management consultant with McKinsey, and led a national STEM education non-profit. He holds a BHSc in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Calgary, where he graduated with the University’s top academic and community service honours.

Research Interests

Rahul’s research focuses on data science for infectious disease monitoring and public health. His interests include Bayesian inference, evidence synthesis, disease surveillance, data visualization and dashboards, and knowledge translation.

Current Projects

Rahul leads the SeroTracker project, which aids understanding of the true extent of the COVID-19 pandemic and SARS-CoV-2 population antibody patterns. SeroTracker is a custom-built dashboard that systematically monitors and synthesises findings from hundreds of global SARS-CoV-2 serological studies. The dashboard allows users to visualise seroprevalence estimates on a world map and compare estimates between regions, demographic groups, and occupations. SeroTracker is supported by the Public Health Agency of Canada through Canada’s COVID-19 Immunity Task Force.
